Taking the Gospel to the Last Stretches of Mexico

Introduction to Oral Bible Translation (OBT) School

Dates: TBD

The Introduction to Oral Bible Translation school consists of three phases over the course of 12 weeks with a 3-month practicum. The dates for the lecture phase of the school are September 29, 2022, to December 23, 2022. The practicum can be done within a year.

In alignment with YWAM’s mission to End Bible Poverty Now, we as YWAM Morelia are committed to seeing the Bible translated into every language and tongue. We acknowledge the need for preparation, exposure, and training to participate in this global movement. Oral Bible Translation (OBT) is an innovative approach to translating the Bible through oral means - reading and writing literacy is no longer a barrier!

The goal of the Introduction to Oral Bible Translation school is to train facilitators to support mother tongue translators in their process of translating the Bible orally. OBT is a heart connection between the Word of God, languages, and the Great Commission. The school will consist of three units. These units will cover topics such as Intercultural Communication, How Language functions, Internalization, and an introduction to the Holistic OBT process. The 12-week practicum (outreach) is three months of serving and learning under a local Oral Bible Translation project.

The goal of the school is for you not to only feel prepared to enter into Oral Bible Translation, but to multiply what you have learned.
